On Nov. 20, 2020, Man Hua and Ruoxian Zhou, two PhD candidates from Professor Binbin Ni’s research group have won the Excellent Poster Presentation Award (EPPA) in the online virtual conference of the 9th VLF/ELF Remote Sensing of Ionospheres and Magnetospheres (VERSIM) workshop, by their outstanding scientific studies and presentations. At this workshop there have been three winners in total. Meanwhile, Man Hua has been nominated as a candidate of the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA) Young Scientist Award, which is granted to young scientists who have made outstanding contributions at IAGA’s specialist meetings or workshops. The award aims to recognize, motivate and acknowledge the excellent and promising young scientists, who satisfy the meetings’ requirements by their research, presentation and overall performance at the topical meetings and show big potential for the development of IAGA. Typically, 3 to 5 recipients will be granted the award annually.
The VERSIM workshop is an international group of scientists interested in studying the behavior of the magnetosphere and ionosphere by means of ELF (300 Hz - 3 kHz) and VLF (3-30 kHz) radio waves, both naturally and artificially generated. The group was set up in 1975 by IAGA and URSI (International Union of Radio Science), who hold the international conference every two years aiming in probing of the magnetosphere and ionosphere. This year the VERSIM conference was held by Kyoto University in Japan, and there are more than one hundred experts, young scientists, and students who attended the meeting.
